Ishraqi or Illuminationist Wisdom (Volumes II)
The Ishraqi Wisdom of Shaykh Shahab al-Din Suhrawardi (549-587 AH) is one of the three schools of thought introduced by Muslim philosophers. The fact is that this philosophical school emerged when it faced and challenged with Peripatetic and theological philosophical schools under the influence of the Ishraqi or illuminationist wisdom of the ancient Iranians, Socrates and Plato, Zoroastrian wisdom, Buddhist and Hindu wisdom, mysticism and Islamic Sufism, and mostly by Suhrawardi’s rich taste and truth-seeking soul.
Today, although Suhrawardi’s works are all published as a collection by Iran’s Society of Philosophy and Wisdom (currently operating under as the Institute for Wisdom and Philosophy Research), the revival, review, and development of this philosophical school is still needed since the research on the Ishraqi philosophy is still at its beginning.
The present work is an effort to review and analyze Suhrawardi’s Ishraqi philosophical system and is developed for the philosophical community. It is hoped that such studies are conducted more quickly and more deeply.
