On the Relationship between the Quran and Culture
The book investigates the relationship between the Quran and the current culture, and is a research study accompanied with humility. Certainly, the Holy Quran is not unfamiliar with the culture and setting of its revelation and presented its teachings with regard to the current culture; therefore, the culture of the time is evident in a large number of its verses and the proper understanding of the verses depends on the awareness of that culture. Since the revelation of the Quran, many components, which were undeniably similar to the religious and non-religious sections of the existing culture, were at the center of the attention of the Quran and Islam opponents as they considered it as an indication of non-originality and dependence of the Quran and its affectability by its surrounding culture. In recent centuries, the orientalists studying religion and some Muslims, with their own specific incentives, addressed the relationship between the Quran and the current culture once more, and developed works on this topic, which each discusses this issue from a different perspective. The present research is an attempt to discuss and criticize different perspectives toward the most important topics in this field.
