One of the fundamental issues of the humanities in the Tafsir of texts is its acceptability of criterion. Accordingly, the current view to the Tafsir tradition has been based on the validity of its Tafsir and its acceptability of criterion. With the advent of the subjectivist approach in the West and type of their analysis of truth, language, method, meaning and comprehension, however, the Tafsir acceptability of criterion faced serious challenges. On the basis of rational principles, on the other hand, the basis of the Tafsir of the texts consists of the truth as the feature of the theorem, language as a means of expressing meaning, and method as the way to achieve it. The subjective approaches are incompatible with the author's objectives in understanding the religious texts and lead to inappropriate consequences.

While explaining and analyzing the common principles dominating the Tafsir of texts such as the validity of the Tafsir, the specification of the text meaning, and the dependence of its meaning on the author, the present book examines and criticizes the foundations, documentation, and implications of the subjective approach in the Tafsir of religious texts, especially the Tafsir of the Holy Quran.
