Relying on human reason and knowledge as two original sources in achieving a new understanding of the Quran as well as a critical approach to narratives and a community-centered view to the Quran in order to detect the main causes of the collapse of the Islamic society and to receive the strategic teachings of the Quran in the field of reforming and promoting the Islamic nation in the present era are features distinguishing Al-Manar from other Sunni’s Tafsir resources. Narrating or criticizing al-Manar's statements in later Tafsirs suggests the importance, richness, or at least the difference between the thoughts of al-Manar's authors and their previous Tafsirs. The reflection of al-Manar's statements is evident in al-Mizan. More than 140 critiques on al-Manar's statements in only 12 juzes of the Quran indicate Allamah Tabataba’i’s concerns and commitment to detect the shortcomings of al-Manar in terms of its foundations and method in understanding the Quran and to protect the Quranic studies. He well managed this issue and revealed that al-Mizan is truly al-Mizan.
