کتاب حکمت یمانی قصد دارد فلسفۀ میرداماد را از نگاه خود او ببیند؛ به این معنا که پی‌جویی کند که میرداماد چه تاریخی برای فلسفه در نظر داشته است، مسائل بنیادین فلسفی برای او چه بوده‌اند و به این مسائل چه پاسخ‌هایی داده است. میرداماد خود را وارث حکمای هفت‌گانه می‌داند و نخستین کسی که توانسته است فلسفه‌ای الهام‌گرفته از دین الهی تنظیم کند. از نگاه میرداماد، حکمت یمانی، بر دو بنیاد پایه‌گذاری شده است، قوامی دارد و ثمراتی از آن حاصل می‌شود. بنیادهای حکمت یمانی از این قرارند: جعل بسیط ذات و وعاءهای وجود. قوام حکمت یمانی نظریۀ حدوث دهری است که بر آن دو بنیاد استوار است. درنهایت، حکمت یمانی طیف گسترده‌ای از ثمرات فلسفی و غیرفلسفی را در پی دارد. کتاب حاضر حکمت یمانی را، با همان ساختار و در همان تاریخی که میرداماد در نظر داشته است، پیش چشم اهل علم قرار می‌دهد.

Yamānī Wisdom seeks to explore Mīr Dāmād's philosophy from his own perspective. That is, it aims to investigate what historical framework Mīr Dāmād envisioned for philosophy, what fundamental philosophical issues he considered significant, and how he addressed them. Mīr Damad regarded himself as the heir of the seven sages and the first to formulate a philosophy inspired by divine religion. From his point of view, Yamānī Wisdom is founded upon two core principles, has a body, and yields various outcomes. The foundations of Yamānī Wisdom are simple making of essence and the realms of existence. The body of this wisdom is the theory of perpetual creation, which itself is rooted in those two principles. Ultimately, Yamānī Wisdom leads to a wide range of both philosophical and non-philosophical consequences. This book presents Yamānī Wisdom with the same structure and within the same historical framework that Mīr Dāmād envisioned.
