در عصر امامت امام سجاد(ع) تحولات اجتماعی ـ  سیاسی و فرهنگی ـ علمی گسترده‌ای در جهان اسلام رخ داد و این دوره یکی از بحرانی‌ترین دوره‌های تاریخ اسلام به شمار می‌رود. در این دوره برای نخستین بار یکی از نوادگان رسول خدا2 در ملأ عام به طرز فجیعی به شهادت می‌رسد و خاندانش به اسارت برده می‌شود. این پژوهش کوشیده است تا ابعادی از تاریخ و سیره زندگی امام سجاد(ع) را با استفاده از تمام ظرفیت‌های پژوهشی و منابع گوناگون و با رویکردی توصیفی ـ تحلیلی مورد مطالعه قرار دهد. شناخت‌نامه حضرت، منزلت امام، سیره و مواضع سیاسی، فضائل و سیره اخلاقی ـ اجتماعی حضرت، سیره علمی ـ فرهنگی، سیره اقتصادی و سیره امام سجاد8 در زندگی خانوادگی، موضوعاتی هستند که در هشت بخش بیان شده است. پژوهش نشان می‌دهد برخلاف دیدگاهی که امام چهارم را به گوشه‌نشینی و کناره‌گیری از اجتماع متهم می‌کند، ایشان مدیریتی فعال در بحران‌های موجود داشته و به شیوه‌های مختلف برای بازسازی جامعه شیعی و پویایی تفکر اسلام ناب تلاش کرد.

In the age of Imam Sajad’s Imamate,social, political and cultural changes has occurred in the islamic world and is one of the most critical periods in the history of Islam. In this period, for the first time, one of the descendants of the prophet of god was viciously slain in public and his family was taken captive. This research tries to study the aspects of the history and life of Imam sajjad(AS) using all the capacities of research and resources with a descriptive - analytical approach. The biography and status of Imam(AS), the conduct and political positions, economic conduct and the manner of Imam sajjad(AS) in his family life are the subjects expressed. The research shows that despite the view that the fourth imam(AS) is accused of companionship and withdrawal from the society, he had active management in present crises and tried different ways to rebuild a shiite society and a dynamic pure islamic thought.
