نوشته‌ پیش‌رو تلاشی برای تاباندن نور بر محیط پیشین و وضعیت کنونیِ «سیره»، «سیره‌نگاری» و «سیره‌پژوهی» است؛ موضوعی که صدای آن در میان صدای دیگر حوزه‌های علمی، از فقه وحدیث گرفته تا فلسفه وکلام، گم شده است و برای بهره‌مندی از ظرفیت‌های آن و هرگونه قضاوت درباره‌ چیستی و جایگاهش، باید به‌خوبی شناخته شود. این نوشته برای مخاطبان، ترسیمی اولیه و پرمعنا از برخی فرازونشیب‌های اندیشمندان، محققان و دغدغه‌مندان این حوزه ارائه می‌دهد؛ اما برای نویسنده، گامی ضروری و مقدمه‌ای برای طرحِ تأسیس حوزه‌ای مستقل دانشی با نام «سیره‌شناسی» محسوب می‌شود. امید است این اثر، گامی اولیه و انگیزه‌بخش برای پرداختن به این موضوع مهم و بازنگری در جایگاه و نقش آموزه های معصومان8 در علوم اسلامی و انسانی باشد.

A Critical Review of Its Background and Current State

In this book, an attempt has been made to explore the landscape of a particular field of study - namely, the Sīrah (biography), Sīrah writing, and Sīrah research concerning the infallible leaders of Shia Islam. The author contends that the voice of the Sīrah, along with its potential, has been overshadowed by other established disciplines - from jurisprudence and Hadith to philosophy and theology. Before defending this claim, however, it is essential to examine the nature and position of the Sīrah in both historical and contemporary contexts.Thus, this work offers the reader a preliminary yet meaningful outline of the developments and challenges within scholarly writings on the Sīrah, produced by thinkers, researchers, and those invested in Islamic and human sciences. Adopting a second-order perspective - reflecting on the roots, fluctuations, challenges, and future prospects of this field - this study seeks to contribute to the revitalization and identity formation of a new branch of knowledge. This reflective approach constitutes the main innovation of the present work. It is hoped that this effort will serve as an introductory and motivating step toward deeper engagement with this vital subject, and toward a reappraisal of the role and relevance of the teachings of the Infallibles (AS) within both Islamic and human sciences.
