بررسی و تحلیل سیره و تاریخ اهل‌بیت(ع) همواره برای جامعه شیعی به‌منظور الگوگیری از مکتب نورانی ایشان ضروری و لازم است و به تناسب هر عصر و دوره‌ای نیاز به بازخوانی مجدد سیره راهگشای ایشان است.  
پژوهش حاضر درصدد است با نگاهی تاریخی و روشمند به کاوش در باره تاریخ و سیره امام جواد(ع) بپردازد تا ضمن معطوف کردن انظار به سیره و تاریخ آن حضرت، متنی جامع، با رویکرد تحلیلی و نقادی اخبار ارائه نماید. اتکا به‌منابع اصلی و توجه به سیر تاریخی تدوین و گسترش اخبار و گزارش‌های مربوط به زندگانی امام جواد(ع) در این طرح موردنظر قرار گرفته است. احوال شخصی امام جواد8 تاریخ سیاسی، سیره علمی و فرهنگی و سیره اقتصادی آن حضرت از جمله مباحثی است که در این نوشته با نگاه تاریخی بررسی و تحلیل شده است و با پرهیز از برجسته کردن جنبه‌های غیرعادی زندگانی امام،  زمینه الگوگیری هرچه بیشتر از سیره حضرت فراهم شده است.
